These free apps are great for those looking to get started on a healthier lifestyle. They are my go-to apps from the begininng of my health journey to present day, and are still useful. They make living healthy easier, because we all need that push and hand holding at times. Here is what I consider to be the best free health and fitness apps avavilbe for both android and ios.
Diet Apps
My Fitness Pal – This app is not only a calorie counter, but its database of 5 million foods lets you track your diet against yours goals, breaksdown the daily macro nutrients, and save meals. It also has a built in community to encourage and ask questions.
Spark Recipes – My newest obsesssion to meal planning. The app is a database of healthy recipes, where you can select from the meal types (lunch,dinner, snacks, etc.), diet restrictions (low carbs, gluten free, etc), cuisine types, seasonal foods, and even provides courses. The best solution to cooking and eating healthy.
Mediation Apps
Head Space – Although only really free to download, it does provides a 10 day beginners guide through mediation. With animated tutorials to explain ways of clearing the mind and letting go. I highly reccomend and it only takes 10 minutes a day.
Insight Timer – Now after you got the basics of mediations, this app provides free guided mediation from morning mantra, relaxtions, mindfulness, dieting, and mediation guides to get a good sleep. This apps puts you in the right mindset through every and any situation you make encounter.
Workouts Apps
Nike Training Club – While there are plenty of app that provides workouts, this app breaksdown from the level of intensity, complexity, and types of workouts, such as strength, endurance, and mobility. Its also great because its a free app in which the top athletes are your instructors.
Bodybuilding.com – The app is the continuation of the website, which is great for workout videos, exercise tutorials, and goal oriented plans. Anytime I have a fitness goal, I always find the right plan, with diet and supplement guides, and daily workout in the time frame needed.
Seconds – It is the best interval timer app for HITTS, circuit training, tabata workouts, and other types of interval workout. Setting the timmer with alotted rest time between sets and rounds, makes it easy to plan workouts.
