As I’ve gotten older I have discovered my love of going wine tasting. It’s not that I have a taste palette for wines, but it’s the experience itself. I feel lucky that I live in California, where so many great wines are produced. Although not part of California, Valle de Guadalupe, which is only a 3.5-hour drive from Los Angeles, is my favorite place to enjoy wines. Not only because the wineries are amazing, but the culinary scene is starting to attract more and more talent. Also, the cost is about half, if not less, than what you would pay in the United States.
If you look up Valle de Guadalupe, you will for sure come across Cabanas Cuatros Cuatros. This winery, if you even call it that, includes a hotel for glamping, horseback riding, and zip lining. The best part is the bar, which sits on a cliff facing the ocean. As you sit and sip your wine and indulge in a cheese platter you feel like you have been transported to the Mediterranean. Everyone is dressed in their Sunday best and enjoy the afternoon with friends and family. Their restaurant is also one of the best in the region so if you have time, stay a while and enjoy the day.
If your worried that you don’t speak Spanish, many of the staff speak English.
