Summer season is around the corner! I can’t imagine anyone not looking forward to longer days and warm weather. Even if I no longer have summer vacation from school as an adult, there always something to enjoy this season. Here are my 5 things I’m most excited for this summer.
Camping in Sequoia
Even if the weather doesn’t get too cold near LA, most campsites don’t open up until summer. Luckily I have already planned ahead and made reservations to camp in Sequoia National Park. I am looking forward to seeing the massive giant trees and waking up to the smell of fresh air.
Hiking
Dani and I have always wanted to hike Mount Whitney, which is the tallest mountain in California. So starting January we started hiking more often to get prepared for a tough hike. Luckily we have a friend who’s experienced in hiking to guide us. She’s also well versed in her herbalism, so it’s like science class every time we hike.
Visiting Danni in San Diego
When Danni moved to San Diego, I was most excited to explore a place I wasn’t too familiar with. I have been to SD a hand full of times, but only the downtown area. Since she moved I have discovered there is a lot of hidden gems and cute neighborhoods. So any chance I get I’m heading to San Diego.
Reading Cup of Jo Mother’s Around the World Series
I know I’m not a mother, but I have learned so much from these blog post series. Joanna G. blog Cup of Jo created a series, only posted during summer months, interviewing women who were Americans and have moved abroad. They write about the difference in cultures and how they had to adjust. From the series, you start to get an understanding that there is no right or wrong culture and our differences makes every one unique.
Go Salsa Dancing
I have always wanted to learn how to salsa dance but my fear of making a fool of myself has always prevented me from doing it. I’ve taken a few lessons before and since I am super critical of myself I’ve never tried to go out to a salsa club and practice. These next few months I have made it a point to ask friends and older sister to go out dancing with me. This way I can learn to get comfortable moving to the rhythm and practice the basic steps.
