I’m always on the look out for natural, yet affordable, alternatives for my skincare routine. I’m not against chemical-based products, but it doesn’t hurt to stay away as the face skin is delicate. It’s also great to know what is in a product before I use it. A good source of information is Paula Begoun book, “Don’t Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me”. This book was helpful when looking for a natural oil that contains essential vitamins and that can double as a moisturizer and serum. From my research, I discovered rose-hip oil is best for aging and normal-dry skin, which is my skin type.
Rose-hip contains vitamin C, vitamin A, and Omega 3 (a-linolenic). These vitamins can stimulate collagen production, renew skin cells, increase moisture levels, improve skin texture and tone, and reduce wrinkles, due to its ability to penetrate deeper into the skin. All these benefits will make our skin look rejuvenated and healthier (link). Rose-hip oil is also known to help fade scars and sunspots.
For me, this oil is not to thick and easily blends into my skin. But before trying any new products, please consult an expert or test out in small amounts.
