As you probably can tell from past post, I love to incorporate natural oils into my everyday beauty routine, like argon or almond oil. It makes me feel better knowing that I am not smearing my face with to many chemicals. I have been curious to understand what the nutrients, specifically in vitamins, do to our skin. So If you are just as curious as I am, here is a breakdown of vitamins and the benefits they provide.
Vitamin E
This vitamin helps with preventing free radicals into entering your body. Free radicals create wrinkles in our skin. Applying this on a regularly basis can help prevent aging. Since this oil can be quite thick it is best to use at night and are best for those with dry skin. Also it does have a bit of a fowl odor. Natural oils that contain vitamin E are avocado oil, grape seed oil, olive oil, and almond oil.
Vitamin C
This oil has properties that help produce collagen, but like vitamin E it also protects from free radicals. Collagen helps with elastin which gives skin flexibility. Flexibility is what show signs of youthfulness. The antioxidants found in vitamin C also help with hyperpigmentation caused by the sun. Use at night and wash out the oil in the morning, since this oil can cause sensitivity to the sun. Natural oils that contain vitamin C are aloe vera oil and frankincense oil
Vitamin K
This vitamin K helps with strengthening capillaries, which are weakened blood vessels that pool blood from our skin. In other words vitamin K is great for healing bruises or dark spots. Another benefit of using of vitamin K is the ability to boost blood circulation to reduce redness and inflammation. Natural sources of vitamin K are leafy greens like spinach and broccoli.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D assist the skin with cell growth and repair. As we all know our bodies can produce vitamin D when exposed to the sun, but with sun exposure comes the UV rays that also causes damages to our skin. We should all make sure get enough vitamin D intake with our diet, but applying it on our skin can be double protection.
