On October 18th we join 25,000 other runners to participate in the Nike Women half marathon in San Francisco. We began our training in the summer starting with a 3-mile run and gradually increase the mileage each week. We also incorporated weight training and high intensity uphill runs. Our training helped us crossed the finish line in around 2 hours and 19 minutes. For us, it was really a great experience.
Not only was it amazing to run for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, but also to be surrounded by thousands of women (and some men) who were equally determine to finish the goal set ahead. The Nike women half marathon was an unforgettable experience that was worth every challenge.
The biggest challenge for us, was not just being physically prepared, but mentally prepared too. Many times during the race, our bodies start to ache or the fatigue sets in and being able to push past it, is what got us past the finish line.
